Unfortunately, the industry remains unregulated, with many unqualified individuals with no medical background offering injectable treatments like skin boosters anti-wrinkle treatments and fillers.

Our talented dental hygienist Lauren Welton performs all facial aesthetics treatments at Bancroft Dentistry.

She has undertaken many courses to stay ahead of the evolving injection techniques in the industry and believes in a ‘less is more’ approach to the process.

You can expect the hydrating effects of skin boosters to last for between 6 and 9 months.

You can maximise the effects by avoiding excess sun exposure and using skincare products that provide a topical daily dose of hydration.

You will need to have 6-12 monthly top-ups to maintain the results.

Both skin boosters and dermal fillers are made up of hyaluronic acid – so how do they differ?

The ideal candidate for skin boosters will have dehydrated skin as a result of:

• Sun damage.
• General dehydration.
• Failing to use moisturisers every day containing hydrating ingredients such as ceramides and hyaluronic, and UV protection.
• Genetics.
• Skin ageing (as we grow older our skin can’t hold on to moisture as well as it used to).

During your consultation, Lauren will have a chat with you about your skin’s anatomy, and about how you’d like your skin’s appearance to improve.

If it’s mainly fine lines and wrinkles you’re looking to treat, anti-wrinkle injections could be a better fit, whilst dermal fillers are suitable if you’ve lost volume at sites across the skin.
