Research published in the International Journal of Dental Hygiene shows that teenagers who miss breakfast are up to twice as likely to have bad breath. What is interesting is that during research nearly half those tested were not aware that they had bad breath. There is no direct correlation between eating breakfast and bad breath, but it may be an indication of other possible health issues, notably that basic good oral hygiene is being ignored.
The social implications of bad breath, especially in teenagers, can be great, but there is a simple test to check your breath. Lick the inside of your wrist, let it dry a few seconds and then sniff your wrist. If in doubt, it’s easy to pop in and meet with one our dental team. If you think you have bad breath, do not be embarrassed, we have almost certainly dealt with much worse!
